Dolly Parton, country music superstar, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, teamed up with the owners of Silver Dollar City Tennessee theme park in Pigeon Forge, to revitalize the attraction and create Dollywood. Parton, who was born and grew up in East Tennessee, wanted to give back to the area she called home. Dollywood opened in 1986 and became an amusement destination, attracting millions of visitors each year.
